Venice does not even seem real. The entire island is dedicated to tourism, so unlike other Italian destinations, it seems more like a theme park than an actual city. Venice is bustling with tourism. People are everywhere- from the narrow streets, to boating in the canals, or lining up to eat at restaurants. Venice is like a maze, and it is easy to get lost in the streets and end up walking in circles. The best way to tour Venice is by gondola, because you can quickly maneuver through the canals and cover the most ground.
Saint Mark’s Basilica is the gorgeous church in the middle of Piazza San Marco and one of the island’s main attractions.
Grand Canal is the largest canal that cuts through the center of the city. The best places to eat are along the Grand Canal because you can eat right against the water.
Rialto Bridge is the icon to Venice and goes across the Grand Canal. Beautiful but heavily crowded!
Campanile di San Marco marks the Piazza San Marco and the main entrance into the city.
Italian gelato is my favorite treat in the world!
Santa Maria della Salute is located on a smaller island right outside of Venice. You can take a short ferry across the water channel to check out this stunning church.
