I had the opportunity to travel to London and take classes at Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design. I took the Summer Intensive Program, which was 4 weeks long, and covered the business of fashion, the magazine industry, fashion journalism, photography, digital design, the history of fashion, and more. The college, located in the heart of London, in Soho, was the perfect location for exploring the fashion industry.
I couldn’t accurately predict where I will be in 10 years, but for the last few years, my goal has to make fashion a career. From blogging, to reading magazines, to sketching designs, to taking photos, and even to creating a fashion club back in high school, fashion has been a major part of my life. I would love to one day make it a career. Taking courses at Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design was the best way to expand my portfolio and become an insider to the workings of the industry.
I worked with students from all over the world. Each schedule was individualized and we took classes and listened to speakers from British Vogue. We also got the opportunity to spend time at London Vogue house, learn the “ins and outs” to taking on the industry as a career, and visit world-renowned museums all over London. The college itself was mesmerizing- from the white walls, to the photography studio, to the digital media room, and to the endless shelves of Vogue archives- the college was the perfect place to indulge in all creative processes.
These 4 weeks flew by, but as quick as it was, I came out of it with a new perspective, new information, and a decisive plan on what I need to do to make it in this competitive industry. There was no better way to fully grasp the concepts needed to achieve in the fashion world than to fully immerse yourself in it at this college.
