I flew out to the big island mid-June. I had been out to Hawaii a few times when I was younger, but never to the big island. I really enjoyed the big island because there is tons to see: lava rock coastlines, tropical jungles, and volcanoes. The Big Island is separated into two climates: the tropical side and the dry side, which is split by the 3 major volcanoes in the middle.
I started our trip on the tropical side where we stayed in a house in Kapoho. This side of the island is lush and receives rainfall almost everyday. I spent most of my trip in the warm water snorkeling over the gorgeous coral reefs.
The second half of the trip was spent in Puako, which looked over a gorgeous lava rock beach and looked even more stunning during sunset. Puako also had amazing snorkeling and is located close to Mt. Kilauea.
