Singapore is a westernized Asian city. In many ways, it reminds me a lot of London. And not just because they drive on the opposite side of the road, but because of the clean streets, white and silver aesthetics, British styled architecture, cloudy weather, skyscrapers in the financial district, and the cultural blend.
Singapore is an incredible city to explore. The entire city is immaculate and manicured. There is not a tree nor bush out of place, and the streets are basically stainless. The city is a fusion of cultures, which means delicious restaurants, from sushi to Italian. It also has unbelievable shopping, with massive malls that are interconnected, luxury brand storefronts seemingly on every street, with cool boutiques mixed in.
Parks are scattered throughout the city and each is so green and lush. And cultural boroughs are dispersed all over the island, from Chinatown to Little India. Hundreds of high-rise buildings rule the city’s skyline. The city is bustling, yet the traffic is never heavy. And it is really summer every day of the year with the thick humid air never dropping below 85 degrees.
When in Singapore, you have to go to P.S Cafe! They have the yummiest menu- from truffle fries to salads.
Marina Bay Sands is a hotel located in the south of Singapore. This hotel has fully furnished rooms, a full shopping mall, and a museum. But, the best part of MBS is the infinity pool and sky deck bar located on the top of the hotel. Open during the day, you can see the endless skyscraper landscape and at night, you can see the beautiful city lights. The sky deck is located 50 floors up and has a 360 view of all of Singapore. There is no better way to take in the city than to visit this place.
Right around the corner from Marina Bay Sands is the Gardens by the Bay. Two gardens, the Flower and the Cloud, are inside of large domes. The gardens are home to plant species from all over the world.
