Rome is officially one of my favorite European cities. From the beautiful architecture, the gardens, the dining, the shopping, to the history, I loved visiting Rome. Rome is quite literally the historical center of the Roman Empire, and the modern city, today, has monuments and sights scattered throughout the streets. Like most European cities, walking is the way to go in Rome. Everything is relatively close together and walking the streets is the best way to take in the city and to find the best spots to grab a gelato or sit down for lunch.
The Colosseum is quite possibly the most iconic sight in all of Italy and is an easy self-tour. Definitely a must see!
Trevi Fountain is located in the center of the city, and you’ll be surprised by how it is completely surrounded by shops and restaurants. Because of it’s squished location, it can be very crowded so visit early!
Pantheon, similarly, is just in the middle of a square. It can be toured in half and hour but is also very crowded! But absolutely amazing.
Roman Forum is my favorite sight in Rome. With the purchase of tickets, you are free to wander the ruins of the heart of the Roman Empire. It is mesmerizing and so well-preserved. I had never felt so immersed in history, than walking around the Forum.
Palatine Hill is located just above the Forum. A hike, but definitely worth it. Also, from on top of the hill, there are gorgeous 360 views of Rome.
Spanish Steps are stunning! The area around the Steps is my favorite part of Rome too. In my opinion, the shops and restaurants below the Steps are the best!
